Ratchet rings wear out over time, especially if ridden in competition or in inclement weather. A worn ratchet ring can cause the pawls to fail to engage or to slip under load.
They are made of Scandium for extra hardness.
Novatec 33T Press-Fit ratchet rings are for all D162SB-SL and XD462SB-SL platform hubs. They are compatible with Shimano/Sram freehubs or Sram XD Drivers.

Needed to replace the ring on my D462SB. To remove it, I used a screwdriver under the bottom lip, and carefully twisted the screwdriver 180 degrees as I moved around to different points around the ring. It slowly pried the ring up and out without any damage to the hub shell. Hammered in the new ring, added my new freehub and BAM! Newly working, tight freehub ready to enjoy.
