12mm x 135mm thru-axle is a rear wheel standard often used on older mountain bikes, some gravel bikes, or specific tandem bikes. Unlike the newer 142mm standard, this system provides the stiffness of a 12mm diameter axle with the narrower 135mm spacing commonly associated with quick-release systems.
